Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado is seeking a GNC Software Engineer to develop and validate guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for flight systems in aerospace and defense. You will translate concepts into robust flight software across simulation, embedded implementation, and HIL environments, owning subsystems and collaborating with systems, avionics, propulsion, and test teams.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in a relevant field, experience with C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and real-time embedded

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or related field required.
• Experience developing GNC algorithms or flight software for aerospace/defense systems.
• Strong understanding of classical control, estimation, and vehicle dynamics.
• Experience implementing algorithms in C/C++ or similar embedded languages.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent.
• Familiarity with real-time or embedded software development environments.
• Excellent cross-disciplinary communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain flight GNC software for aerospace applications.
• Translate GNC requirements and models into embedded software.
• Develop and execute simulations to evaluate GNC performance.
• Support system integration, HIL, and flight test activities.
• Analyze test and flight data to assess performance.
• Contribute to requirements definition, verification, and traceability for GNC functions.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks through analysis and testing.
• Collaborate across systems, avionics, software, and test engineers.
• Document designs, analyses, and test results for stakeholders.
