Job summary

United Launch Alliance (ULA) is seeking a Recurring Avionics Electrical Component Engineer to support and maintain hardware designs for the Vulcan and Atlas Vehicles. You will become the Certified Responsible Engineer for flight avionics components and collaborate with suppliers on testing and issue resolution.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, strong communication, and the ability to travel and be on call for launch-related needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, coordination and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated to manage and complete assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to succeed in a team environment with stakeholders from different organizations.
  • Understanding of electrical components, connectors, and wire harnesses.
  • Ability to brief customers, vendors, and chief engineers on complicated problems and solutions.
  • Available to be on call for launch-related issues outside of business hours.
  • Available to travel for 1 week at a time, at least twice per year.

Responsibilities

  • Becoming the Certified Responsible Engineer (CRE) for flight avionics components, potentially including complex controllers, actuators, batteries, sensors and transducers.
  • Developing and maintaining component requirements, including functional, physical, and environmental test.
  • Working with your hardware suppliers in support of component testing.
  • Working with your suppliers to address, troubleshoot, and resolve issues or failures.
  • Analyzing and documenting out-of-family data when observed.
  • Supporting integration of your components onto the vehicle.
  • Resolving issues that occur during launch site testing that relate to your hardware.
  • Supporting reviews related to systems and components.
  • Partnering with your supply chain colleagues to manage contracts, support statement of work creation, provide engineering estimates, and negotiate with your suppliers.
