Job summary

Wisconsin Converting, Inc. is seeking a Flexographic Print & Ink Technician to support flexographic printing operations on our paper converting equipment. This hands-on role mounts printing plates, prepares inks, and ensures finished products meet specifications.

Experience with flexographic printing is preferred but not required. The position works with Machine Operators and production teams and benefits from a four-day workweek and comprehensive health offerings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in flexographic printing or related processes is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with color measurement tools (X-Rite or similar) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Mount printing plates and prepare printing equipment for production runs.
  • Review production orders and job specifications to verify printing requirements prior to setup.
  • Mix, adjust, and fine-tune PMS ink colors to meet established color specifications.
  • Monitor and maintain ink viscosity during production.
  • Assist machine operators with print setup and changeovers.
  • Monitor print quality, color consistency, registration, and overall appearance.
  • Perform quality inspections and adjust prints and inks to maintain quality.
  • Identify and troubleshoot print-related issues and communicate equipment concerns.
  • Safely handle inks, solvents, and other printing materials.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe printing and ink work areas.
  • Follow all company policies, safety requirements, and operating procedures.

Wisconsin Converting is seeking a Flexographic Print & Ink Technician to prepare and support flexographic printing operations on our paper converting equipment. This hands-on position is responsible for mounting printing plates, preparing and adjusting inks, monitoring print quality, and making adjustments to ensure finished products meet established specifications.

The Flexographic Print & Ink Technician works closely with Machine Operators and other production team members and plays an important role in maintaining consistent color, print quality, and efficient production. Previous flexographic printing experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities
  • Mount printing plates and prepare printing equipment for production runs.
  • Review production orders and job specifications to verify printing requirements prior to setup.
  • Mix, adjust, and fine-tune PMS ink colors to meet established color specifications.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate ink viscosity throughout production.
  • Assist Machine Operators with print setup and changeovers as required.
  • Monitor print quality, including color consistency, registration, placement, and overall print appearance.
  • Perform quality inspections and make necessary print and ink adjustments to maintain consistent quality.
  • Identify and troubleshoot print-related issues and communicate equipment concerns requiring additional support.
  • Properly handle, store, and use inks, solvents, and other printing materials.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe printing and ink work areas.
  • Follow all applicable company policies, procedures, quality requirements, safety requirements, and equipment operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic flexographic printing processes and principles preferred.
  • Ability to learn to mix and adjust inks to achieve required PMS colors and maintain proper ink viscosity.
  • Strong attention to color, print quality, accuracy, and detail.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot print quality issues.
  • Ability to understand and follow production orders, job specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a fast-paced manufacturing team.
  • Basic computer skills for entering and maintaining production and quality information.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous printing, machine operation, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with flexographic printing, ink mixing, color matching, or similar processes is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with X-Rite or similar color measurement equipment is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, twist, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently use hands and arms to handle printing materials, mount plates, operate equipment, and make adjustments.
  • Reach overhead and work at various heights and positions while setting up and adjusting printing equipment.
  • Visually inspect printed materials for color consistency, registration, placement, and other print quality requirements.
  • Safely move throughout a manufacturing environment and work around moving machinery and industrial equipment.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels.
  • Regular exposure to moving machinery, paper materials, inks, solvents, adhesives, and industrial equipment.
  • May be exposed to odors associated with printing inks, solvents, cleaning materials, and other materials used in the manufacturing process.
  • Required to follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
