Brook + Whittle in Gardner, KS seeks an experienced printing press operator for a full-time, 1st shift role (Mon-Fri, 7:00 am–3:30 pm). The position involves operating HP digital, Flexo, and Screen presses.

The starting rate is $18.00 per hour with shift differential and overtime opportunities based on experience. Key responsibilities include material verification, ink management, artwork selection, first-piece inspection, and moving jobs between centers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• HP certification preferred.
• Experience in a production environment is helpful.
• Machine aptitude and ability to learn new processes.
• Ability to pass color perception test.
• Good math skills.
• Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand or walk for the full shift.
• Willingness to cross-train throughout the organization.

• Check ink levels and run ink test program.
• Select art for job and RIP it to the press.
• Run job for first piece inspection and sign-off with supervisor approval.
• Use the first piece to assess print quality and guide later work processes.
• Scan completed jobs to the next work center and move to completed hold area.
• At shift end, inform supervisor of mechanical, material, or ink issues.

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced printing press operator for full‑time, 1st shift Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The position involves operating HP digital, Flexo, and Screen print presses. Rate starts at $18.00 per hour, with shift differential and overtime opportunities based on experience.

Primary Responsibilities

• Use the job jacket to verify material size and type.
• Clean nip, corona tray, corona rollers, and check the tack of blue and feeder rollers, refreshing if tack is low.
• Check ink levels and add ink as needed to reach proper levels; run ink test program.
• Select art for job and RIP it to the press.
• Run job for first piece inspection; if required, ensure the job jacket is signed off and the supervisor checks before running the job.
• Use the first piece to assess print quality during the run and complete the job; place the first piece in the jacket as a guide for later work processes.
• When the job is complete, scan it to the next work center and move the job to the completed hold area.
• At the end of shift, clean the area and inform the supervisor of any mechanical, material, or ink problems that caused issues during the day.
