Job summary

Upland Label, LLC is seeking an experienced flexographic press operator to set up and run a 6- to 8-color press, ensuring color accuracy, registration, and production speed.

You will read orders, gather substrates and inks, perform quality checks, and troubleshoot printing issues while maintaining a clean workstation. This role requires strong attention to detail and hands-on mechanical skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in flexographic printing.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in label manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read production orders and verify quantity, color sequence, and substrate.
• Obtain substrate, cylinders, plates, inks and related supplies.
• Check setup, registration, die cutting and color against approved proof.
• Secure approval for production run.
• Maintain continuous inspection of job specs and quality; collect samples.
• Solve printing problems.
• Maintain cleanliness of press, workstation, and area.
• Read, review and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and proofs.

Description

Responsible for setting up and operating a 6 to 8 color flexographic printing press and inspection equipment according to written and/or verbal instructions, established company procedures, safety, and quality guidelines. Capable of resolving printing problems, mechanical operation of press to keep quality, registration, color, and production speed at optimum. Has good understanding of inks, solvents, and can print on a variety of substrates.

FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• · Receives production order and job assignments from lead. Reads order to verify quantity to run, overrun tolerance, color sequence, and substrate.
• · Obtains substrate, cylinders, plates, inks (water-base and UV) and related supplies needed to produce job.
• · Checks setup, registration, die cutting and color against approved proof or print
• · Secures approval for production run.
• · Maintains continuous inspection of job specifications and quality throughout production run, collecting production run samples as required. Completes production records.
• · Solve printing problems.
• · Ensures proper cleanliness of press, workstation, and immediate press area by returning unused ink to ink shelves, removing trash, rags, and extra material.
• · Able to read, review and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and proofs.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• · Ability to manage multiple tasks and keeping presses running
• · Detail oriented
• · Works well with hands, good fine motor skills.
• · Work well with limited supervision.
• · Good Communication skills
• · Mechanical aptitude – capable of diagnosing problems utilizing core concepts and be able to execute basic repairs and supervise vendor repairs
• · Computer skills - Ability to navigate through a windows based computer system and perform basic tasks like saving files, printing files, retrieving up files/folders, etc.
• · Good judgment of color, design, and print quality.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• · Ability to regularly lift/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds.
• · Bending and twisting for 10 hours.
• · Standing and walking for 10 hours.

SHIFT AVAILABILITY

You will be assigned to first shift starting at 6:00am and ending at 2:30 pm with a 30-minute lunch and two breaks in between working Monday – Friday. Overtime may be required.
