Job summary

Resource Label Group in Missouri is seeking an entry-level Press Trainee to start a path toward becoming a trained Flexo Press Operator. The role includes onsite training and the opportunity to learn a skilled trade in the printing industry.

The Press Trainee will assist in set up and operation of the printing press to produce labels on paper, plastic, foil, and film using UV and water-based inks on 7” to 17” presses with up to 10 color stations, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 1 year of flexographic printing press experience preferred.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Must be able to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices.
• Regularly stand; frequently walk; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.

Responsibilities

• Learn to interpret our job orders.
• Learn how to identify proper material being used.
• Learn how to properly make labels for packaging.
• Ensure everything is at the press for the job at hand.
• Learn how to load raw material onto the butt splicer for continuous run.
• Assist in changing matrix (waste) roll on the fly.
• Assist in changeovers including switching out print cylinders, washing ink stations, and printing plates.
• Learn how to use the rewind tables for taking out splices and bad labels out of finished rolls.
• Monitor the web for imperfections and overall quality.
• Keep area clean and organized for easy shift transfer and accuracy.
• Double-check paperwork, part numbers, and labeling matchup with the item running.

• Must be able to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and frequently is required to walk.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.
