Job summary

Fortis Solutions Group is seeking a skilled Flexo Press Operator to produce pressure sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, hot stamp, and cold foil work. The role involves setup, quality checks, and data recording on a 3rd shift from 10:00pm to 6:00am, with training on 1st shift 6:00am–2:00pm.

Candidates should have at least three years in press operation or related production and a high school diploma. A monthly performance bonus up to $500 is available plus opportunities for safety and efficiency

  • Log production data and material usage; ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Troubleshoot press issues with helper and supervisor; maintain clean work area.

Fortis Solutions Group is seeking a skilled Flexo Press Operator with experience in pressure sensitive label production, shrink sleeves, hot stamp, and cold foil applications. Bring your experience to a company that recognizes and appreciates your hard work and technical skill set.

As a Press Operator, you will operate a flexographic printing press engaged in the production of printed products safely and efficiently. This includes setting up plates, dies, inks, and coatings as specified in the work ticket, performing quality checks to ensure the printed product meets all functional requirements, loading substrates onto the press, recording all required production data, mounting or stripping plates, making inks, washing press components, and completing basic housekeeping and preventive maintenance tasks.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform typical press operations to support the production department.
  • Review the job ticket and work with the Press Helper to ensure the job is set up properly on the press per required specifications and job notes (ink, dies, stock, plates).
  • Run the job setup on the press and log data related to the job setup in the system.
  • Run the job per specifications and log completion, noting material used.
  • While running the press, review printed rolls for quality and consistency related to all aspects of the labels including color registration and die cut.
  • After completion, move finished roll to the finishing department and break down and clean the machine in preparation for the next job.
  • Communicate with the Shift Supervisor and/or Production Manager regarding any issues with the labels and dies.
  • Ensure proper data collection for each job, including job notes on material and time variance.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of the press along with the Press Helper and Supervisor.
  • Maintain the work area and machines in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed company policies and safety regulations.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities and additional press operator training when offered or needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of press operator or printing-related production experience.
Job Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, able to catch problems or inconsistencies and bring them to management’s attention.
  • Good organizational skills to manage multiple different labels each day.
  • Knowledge of press operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • Mechanically inclined to grasp the basics of press operation and maintenance.

Training Requirements
  • Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.
Physical Demands
  • Constant lifting, standing, crouching, walking, and associated repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and up to 75 lbs with assistance.
  • Pass a pre‑employment drug test and be subject to random drug screening.
Work Environment
  • Regular exposure to dust, noise, and ink in the production environment.
  • Warehouse temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Safety shoes and eye protection are essential in the production area. Some plants may require additional PPE, including hair/beard nets and hearing protection.
