Positions are part-time, on-call, with pay rates ranging by role: $125 per day (or $62.50 half-day) with bonuses; building substitutes at $175 per day; long-term substitutes at $220–$225 per day depending on degree.

Qualifications

• Substitutes choose the days, grade levels, and schools that fit their schedule.
• Assignments are on school days, Monday through Friday, according to the Lewiston Public Schools schedule.
• Long-term substitutes work a set schedule for the length of the assignment.
• Reliable attendance on every day a substitute accepts is an essential function of the position.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction following lesson plans left by the regular teacher.
• Provide individual or small-group help to students who need extra assistance, including following IEPs and behavior plans as directed.
• Maintain the classroom: keep it organized, safe, positive, and learning-focused.
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal as assigned.
• Leave notes for the regular teacher on the days work, attendance, and any concerns, and report safety or health issues to the office.
• Long-term assignments include planning lessons, grading student work, and communicating with families as needed.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
