Job summary

Millard Public Schools is hiring Substitute Custodians for the 2026-27 school year across the district in Omaha, NE. Shifts include daytime and evening, 4 or 8 hours, Monday–Friday, with opportunities to work at multiple schools from elementary to high school.

This role involves routine cleaning, light maintenance, and safety tasks. Duties include floor care (dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming), trash pickup, restrooms, classrooms, and general facilities upkeep.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength.
• Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment.
• Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain acceptable working relations with supervisors, staff, students, general public.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.
• Neat and clean appearance.
• Ability to complete required training.
• Ability to work from ladder and scaffolding.

Responsibilities

• Duties include dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, stripping, waxing, and floor shampooing.
• General duties include trash pickups, restroom and classroom cleaning, and polishing furniture.
• Assist with lunch program services and maintain restrooms and supplies.
• Identify and report items needing repair and work with staff to support building maintenance.
• Perform snow removal and operate cleaning equipment as part of housekeeping program.
