Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Care team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of duties involving all aspects of respiratory care for patients ranging from infants to adults.

This per diem opportunity offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to provide hands-on clinical care across a diverse patient

Qualifications

• Massachusetts Limited License in Respiratory Care required.
• Knowledge of respiratory care procedures.
• Ability to assess patients and respond to emergencies.
• Ability to document patient assessments and therapies clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory care procedures for patients across ages including infants and adults.
• Operate, maintain, and monitor respiratory care equipment.
• Obtain arterial blood gas samples and assist with CPR and emergencies.
• Assess patient needs and adjust therapies as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation of therapies and orders.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team to support outcomes.
• Prioritize procedures based on patient acuity and department needs.
• Share knowledge and assist colleagues with respiratory care procedures.
