Job summary

Boone County is launching a new, first-of-its-kind Childcare Center to support public safety families. The Part-Time Shift Lead will help run operations 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week, including holidays, with a starting hourly rate of $20.30 and potential shift differential.

The role involves supervising staff, ensuring licensing compliance, coordinating classroom coverage, and communicating with families to support children’s growth in a fast-paced, child-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CPR and First Aid certifications are required or obtainable.
• Three or more years of experience in childcare/educational settings.
• Food Handlers certification or ability to obtain before employment begins.
• Background check and medical examination required by licensing regulations.
• Must maintain valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staff and children during a shift, ensuring licensing regulations and center policies are followed.
• Support classroom coverage and coordinate staff breaks.
• Communicate with families as needed to support families and center operations.
• Monitor daily operations to maintain safety and high-quality care.
• Lead with strong communication and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
