Job summary

Portland Public Schools seeks school nurses for district-wide coverage on an as-needed, per-diem basis. Responsibilities include assessment and treatment for injury and illness, medication administration, and support for chronic conditions such as diabetes and asthma across multiple schools.

Candidates must be a Maine-licensed RN and eager to work with children. This per-diem role accrues Earned Paid Leave under Maine law but is not eligible for employer benefits.

Qualifications

• Desire to work with children/adolescents and understanding of pediatric nursing.
• Must be a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat injuries and illnesses.
• Administer medications as directed.
• Support management of chronic conditions (diabetes, asthma) and provide school nursing services.
