Job summary

King’s Mountain Animal Clinic in Collinsville, Virginia, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join a fast-paced, compassionate team. The role supports patient care, surgery prep, radiography, and client service in a well-equipped practice with digital radiography and Idexx lab capabilities.

Ideal candidates are reliable, enjoy animals, and can lift up to 40 lbs. Flexible schedule and benefits are highlighted in our team-driven environment, with Sundays off as part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Self-starter who can multitask and is a team player.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle them when stressed or in pain.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience, but not required.
• Ability to meet physical demands; lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets and aid after surgery.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (e.g., taking radiographs, running bloodwork, reading fecal).
• Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments/equipment.
• Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision.
• Feeding/bathing animals.
• Answering phones and helping clients with their pets.
