Job summary

Universal Health Services is seeking an Assessment Specialist – Registered Nurse (RN) in Florida for a PRN role. The position involves triage, psychosocial screening, and evaluations for psychiatric, behavioral, or substance abuse cases in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include facilitating admissions, pre-certification, and coordination of care, with opportunities for overtime and to cover multiple shifts. Requires 12-hour shifts and an active FL RN license.

Qualifications

• RN with associate degree or diploma in nursing.
• Current FL RN license or compact license.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced Admissions Department.
• Willing to work 12-hour shifts 6:00–6:30 pm Fri-Sun.

Responsibilities

• Provide triage and psychosocial evaluations for psychiatric cases.
• Assess medical necessity and coordinate payers, pre-certification, and stays.
• Serve as back-up to utilization review and document all data.
• Handle telephone triage, crisis calls, and referrals.
• Coordinate admissions, bed assignments, and forms with staff.
• Review referrals with physicians and assess medical capacity.
• Document crisis interventions and maintain records.
• Inventory patient valuables on admission.
