Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a dedicated Substitute Teacher to fill in for regular teachers and deliver prepared lessons in a respectful Catholic school environment.

This part-time, as-needed role focuses on maintaining order, safety, and student engagement throughout the school day. You will adapt to different grade levels, support the school's mission and values, take attendance, report student progress, and collaborate with the principal and classroom staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred.
• Valid substitute teaching certification or eligibility, if required by state or diocesan regulations.
• Previous classroom, educational, or youth setting experience preferred.
• Ability to manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Support Catholic education values.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans and activities provided by the regular teacher.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment.
• Supervise students for safety and well-being throughout the day.
• Manage classroom behavior per school policies.
• Take attendance and maintain records as required.
• Provide instruction and assist students with class work.
• Supervise transitions, recess, lunch, or other duties as directed.
• Adapt to varying grade levels and settings.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students and school information.
• Report significant concerns to school administration.
• Prepare end-of-day report detailing lessons, progress, attendance, and events.
• Follow diocesan Safe Environment requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Principal or administration.
