Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis seeks a Substitute Teacher to provide classroom instruction, supervision, and support when the regular teacher is absent.

You will follow lesson plans while maintaining a safe, structured learning environment and support the school's Catholic identity during daily activities. You will adapt to various classrooms and grade levels, ensure attendance, and collaborate with staff to maintain high standards of student learning and behavior.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid substitute teaching license or permit, if required by state or diocesan guidelines.
• Previous experience with children or adolescents in educational or related settings is preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and classroom procedures provided by the regular teacher.
• Provide instruction and support across subjects and grade levels as assigned.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and respectful classroom environment.
• Establish clear behavior expectations and consistently follow school rules.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and other duties.
• Communicate notable student behavior or concerns to appropriate staff.
• Support the Catholic identity, mission, and values of the school.
• Demonstrate professionalism, patience, kindness, and respect in all interactions.
