Job summary

Dedicated School Staffing, in partnership with the Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West, seeks Substitute Preschool Aides to support students with disabilities when regular staff are absent. You will help students access their education, follow individual plans, and participate meaningfully in the school day alongside teachers and support teams.

This role emphasizes patience, dependability, and teamwork in small classrooms.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid educational aide permit or higher license (as required by state regulations)
• Clean criminal background checks.
• Ability to work with students with diverse needs in a patient, respectful, and professional manner
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow directions, routines, and individualized plans
• Physical ability to assist with lifting, positioning, or mobility support when required
• Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students with a range of disabilities (academic, behavioral, physical, developmental)
• Assist in implementing IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications as directed by certified staff
• Support students with communication, social skills, and engagement in classroom activities
• Help with personal care tasks as needed (e.g., mobility assistance, toileting, feeding), following training and safety guidelines
• Use behavior-support strategies and follow behavior intervention plans consistently
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and during arrival/dismissal
• Assist with adaptive equipment, assistive technology, or sensory tools as directed
• Maintain a calm, supportive presence during challenging behaviors or transitions
• Document observations or incidents according to school procedures
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain a positive, structured learning environment
