Job summary

Allied Universal® in Detroit, MI is seeking a Security Officer – Part Time Enhanced to provide customer service, access control, and safety at a designated site. This flexible, anchored schedule offers reliable hours and opportunities to earn more through additional shifts.

The role requires at least 2 years in law enforcement or security, a high school diploma, and a background check. Pay is $16.50 per hour with a 6-month anchor shift commitment and the option to pick up extra shifts.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of law enforcement, military police, or corrections experience.
• At least 2 years of security-related experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, clergy, staff, and program participants by carrying out site‑specific access control procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor entry points, verify visitor authorization, manage visitor sign‑in processes, and direct guests in accordance with location procedures.
• Respond to access‑related incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner.
• Maintain awareness of activity at assigned entrances and report suspicious activity, unauthorized access attempts, and facility concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of designated areas, entrances, and perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity.
