The State of South Dakota is seeking a Direct Support Professional at the South Dakota Developmental Center in Redfield. This part-time position (<20 hours weekly) provides support through an interdisciplinary team, implementing teaching plans, behavior management, and therapy programs to help persons served reach their fullest potential.

Starting pay is $20.47 per hour with shift differentials on Fridays, Mondays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The role offers flexible hours including a four-hour weekend shift per month, with no SDRS eligibility or health benefits. Background checks and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Techniques used in conducting teaching plans for people with developmental disabilities.
• Facility routine, basic social skills, and safety practices.
• Knowledge of basic health care and protective health measures.

Responsibilities

• carry out a variety of therapeutic disciplines to ensure growth of persons served
• perform individual training, behavior management, and therapy programs
• observe and report individuals’ behavior and responses to treatment
• provide life skills, academic, and work skills guidance
• establish and maintain good working relationships with staff and persons served
• prepare routine reports
• lead the people in assigned tasks
• carry out procedures of teaching or treatment plans
