Job summary

Town of Superior is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to provide information, educate residents, and enforce the town's municipal code. This flexible, part-time role requires 24–29 hours per week and may include evenings.

Under the supervision of the Code Enforcement Supervisor, you will investigate code violations, issue notices, coordinate with the Sheriff's Office when needed, and maintain records with photos.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some college courses in Code Enforcement or related field desired.
• Minimum one year of code enforcement, law enforcement, or related experience desired.
• Must possess and maintain a current State of Colorado Driver's License with a clean record.
• Ability to obtain certification in First Aid and CPR within six months.
• Ability to obtain CACEO Basic Certification Course within 12 months.
• Ability to obtain CACEO Advanced Certification Course within 24 months.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Investigate code violations and resident complaints.
• Patrol the Town and enforce municipal code including nuisance and public safety violations.
• Write and post violation notices and issue warnings.
• Answer inquiries and explain applicable code regulations to the public.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports on code violations with photos.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with professionals contacted in the course of work.
• Conduct investigations of reported non-criminal offenses/incidents to collect evidence, statements, and other relevant information.
• Coordinate efforts with Boulder County Sheriff's Office on violations.
• May provide testimony in court regarding investigation and/or citation.
• Work with other department staff to address daily issues in the field.
• Coordinate with the Sheriff's Office on hazards such as vehicle obstruction.
• Supports construction observation and traffic monitoring.
