Job summary

TekniPlex in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Development Engineer I to join our Flexible Packaging Product Development team. This entry-level role offers the chance to design and commercialize new packaging structures for consumer products across healthcare, food & beverage, and more.

You will work with Product Development Engineers, Manufacturing, Sales, Quality, Regulatory, and Customers on design, testing, validation, scale-up, and market introduction of lidding substrates, pouching

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in: Chemical Engineering (preferred), Materials Science (preferred), Packaging Engineering, Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Other Engineering or related scientific discipline.
• 1–3 years of engineering or product development experience in flexible packaging, converting, packaging materials, or related industries.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of new flexible packaging structures from concept through commercialization.
• Design materials configuration to meet performance, manufacturing, regulatory, sustainability, and cost objectives.
• Supervise pilot and production line trials; generate technical recommendations from results.
• Document trial results accurately in Lotus Notes Trial Request Database.
• Maintain contact with raw material suppliers and identify new materials for performance or cost.
• Use ERP to create raw materials part codes and finished goods recipes.
• Conduct engineering cost calculations and provide to pricing analyst.
