Job summary

Guidepost Montessori is seeking an on-call Substitute Teacher to support mixed-age classrooms (0–6) in Emeryville. No formal Montessori training is required; training is provided during orientation.

This is an on-call, as-needed position offering flexible hours and opportunities to transition into full-time roles. You’ll backfill while full-time teachers are out, helping maintain a calm, engaging, and nurturing learning environment across multiple classrooms.

Qualifications

• TB test negative within last 12 months
• Valid state background check
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Warm, friendly, and dependable demeanor
• Passion for working with young children

Responsibilities

• Step into classrooms as needed to support children and maintain consistency
• Assist with daily routines and classroom activities across mixed-age groups
• Help create a warm, safe, and engaging environment for children
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care
