Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full-time Support Secretary to join our busy Interventional Radiology team. This fast-paced role requires strong organisational and communication skills to support consultants, nurse practitioners, and clinicians in delivering timely care.

You will handle patient queries, perform data entry, type clinic letters and discharge summaries, and maintain accurate records in the PAS system and other databases.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE/O Level standard/equivalent.
• RSA/OCR Level II or equivalent.
• Word Processing/Audio typing Skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and secretarial procedures, Essential criteria.
• Excellent I.T. skills with knowledge and experience of all Microsoft office packages.
• Experience working in an NHS office environment, Excellent communication skills.
• Able to use own initiative and respond to new challenges.
• Self motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
• Manage/prioritise own workload.
• Ability to accurately maintain computerise and manual filing/documentation system.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to manage difficult/sensitive situations.
• Ability and willingness to undertake further training as required.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient queries and data entry with accuracy.
• Type and process clinic letters and discharge summaries.
• Provide comprehensive support to consultants and speciality teams.
• Type dictation from audio transcription of clinical correspondence.
• Maintain effective tracking on inpatient referrals to ensure prompt review.
• Record and input data onto PAS and other databases.
• Operate bring forward and filing systems; manage 18 week pathways.
• Check follow-up appointments and RTT pathways; ensure arrangements.
• Assist with audits and data collection as required.
• Work with line manager and team to ensure smooth office operations.
