Job summary

Portland State University is seeking an Early Childhood Substitute Assistant Teacher (temporary or seasonal) to work across HGCDC and HGITC classrooms on PSU's downtown Portland campus. The role supports a team in delivering model early childhood education for children aged six weeks to five years.

The position is .49 FTE, 19 hours per week, with a starting hourly rate between $18.06 and $19.36, and is not benefits eligible.

Qualifications

• Minimum of twenty semester hours or CDA credential or one year of full-time experience in a licensed child care setting.
• Must maintain continuous enrollment in required background and safety trainings.
• Wamiliarization with Oregon childcare standards and ongoing professional development requirements.

Responsibilities

• Works across programs as a support member of a teaching team in one of the Center’s classrooms.
• Collaborates with classroom teachers to plan and implement a model early childhood program and mentors practicum students.

Education

Twenty semester hours in Early Childhood Education / Child Development / Special Education

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential

One year of full-time experience in a certified day care center or comparable child care program
