Job summary

Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR seeks on-call substitute teachers for the Early Learning Community. You will support a Lead Teacher and an Assistant Teacher, guiding 20 mixed-age children in center-based activities, outdoor times, and routine care.

This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and flexible hours. Prior child-care experience and CPR/First Aid and Food Handler licenses are preferred; training on child abuse reporting is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be enrolled in the Department of Early Learning and Care’s Central Background Registry.
• Minimum 6 months experience in a licensed group care environment with at least 10 children.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate learning experiences per substitute plans using a play-based approach.
• Interact with children respectfully to support growth across domains.
• Communicate questions, concerns, or feedback to families via the Assistant Teacher and Head of School.
• Assist with maintaining orderliness, clean dishes, tidy environment, and laundry as directed.
• Nurture positive relationships with children, teachers, and visitors.
