Job Path NYC is seeking Direct Support Professionals for the Community Connections program in New York City. The role involves providing individualized supports to help people with developmental disabilities engage with their communities and develop independent living skills.

Schedule includes Saturdays and/or Sundays with potential additional hours during the week. Candidates should be comfortable working with wheelchairs and be flexible to changing needs while upholding person-centered

Formación

• High school diploma or GED is required. Prior experience is a plus but not essential.
• Candidates should enjoy active,
• people-oriented
• work and be sensitive to the needs and preferences of people with disabilities.

Responsabilidades

• Provide individualized supports to connect people to their communities and help them become contributing members.
• Develop connections to community organizations with family and community members.
• Empower individuals to participate in volunteer activities, classes, social events, and other activities.
• Support people in their homes to develop independent living skills.
• Help individuals meet personal and professional goals.
• Build self-esteem by doing activities together rather than doing for them.
• Provide opportunities for new experiences.
• Encourage people to make choices and learn to decide for themselves.
• Support social interactions to build positive relationships.
• Respect the person’s life choices and support their goals.
