Job summary

Appalachian Community Services in North Carolina is seeking Direct Support Professionals to provide care, support, and companionship to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. You’ll help clients achieve their goals and maintain a safe, supportive environment.

You will use positive reinforcement and assist with daily living activities, while documenting services and collaborating with supervisors to ensure quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age 18.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
• Ability to work in varied environments, including stairs and private residences.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in developing new skills and achieve their PCP goals.
• Provide and maintain a safe, supportive environment at home and in the community.
• Use positive reinforcement and behavior modification techniques to encourage growth.
• Help clients with home maintenance and daily living activities as prescribed in their plan.
• Complete accurate documentation of services provided.
• Collaborate with a Team Leader and IDD Program Director for guidance and support.
