Job summary

Appalachian Community Services, in partnership with ncgCARE, is seeking Direct Support Professionals to provide care, support, and companionship to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. You will help clients achieve their goals through one-on-one interactions and adherence to their Person-Centered Plans.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, teamwork, and collaborative guidance from supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age 18.
• Compassionate and caring attitude with a strong work ethic and effective communication skills.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
• Physical ability to work in diverse environments including stairs and private residences.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in developing new skills and achieving their goals as outlined in their PCP.
• Provide and maintain a safe, supportive environment for clients at home and in the community.
• Use positive reinforcement and behavior modification techniques to encourage growth.
• Help clients with home maintenance and daily living activities as prescribed in their plan.
• Complete accurate documentation of services provided.
• Collaborate with a Team Leader and IDD Program Director for guidance and support.
