Job summary

Emporia Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Emporia, VA is seeking a dedicated COTA to join our growing care team. You will provide comprehensive occupational therapy under the supervision of an OTR and help residents regain independence.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associate degree in Occupational Therapy recognized by the AOTA.
• Holds current license and/or registration in the state.
• SNF experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under supervision of an OTR and according to state guidelines.
• Assist OT in identifying appropriate patients and referring them to rehab accordingly.
• Document patient’s daily participation and progress in progress notes and obtain OTR co-signature.
• Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, re-certifications and discharges.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings as indicated by Supervisor.
• Act as a rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in scheduling of patients as indicated.
• Complete billing logs and bill patients ethically and accurately for occupational therapy services rendered.
• Cover other therapists’ patient caseload during absence as necessary.
• Supervise junior COTA staff or students as needed.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, patients and families.
• Provide in-service education regarding patient care or occupational therapy services.
