Job summary

Laurel Park Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Elizabeth City, NC is hiring a COTA to provide comprehensive occupational therapy under the supervision of an OTR in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited university with a BA or Associates degree in Occupational Therapy recognized by the AOTA.
• Holds current license and/or registration in the state (as applicable).
• SNF experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive treatment to patients under supervision of an OTR per state guidelines.
• Identify appropriate patients and refer them to rehab accordingly.
• Document patient participation and progress with progress notes and co-signature of the OTR.
• Ensure MD orders are obtained for treatments, re-certifications and discharges.
• Assist with additional documentation per state guidelines.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings as directed by Supervisor.
• Act as rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Participate in scheduling of patients as indicated.
• Complete billing logs and bill patients for occupational therapy services.
• Cover other therapists’ caseload during absences.
• Supervise junior COTA staff or students as needed.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, patients and families.
• Provide in-service education to rehab staff and hospital/community as needed.
• Comply with facility policies, patient confidentiality, and rights.
• Report to work on time and maintain a professional image.
• Adhere to productivity requirements and generate reports.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere to foster relations with customers and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or regional manager.

Education

BA or AS degree in Occupational Therapy (AOTA recognized)
