Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a certified Medical Assistant to join its regional float pool. You will provide direct, age-specific patient care under physician guidance while rotating across family medicine, pediatrics and specialty clinics within the Tappahannock region.

Scheduling is planned about two weeks in advance, with occasional mid-day shifts to meet patient needs. Requirements include current CMA certification and a high school diploma; one year of MA

Qualifications

• Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national association.
• One year of medical assistant experience within the last three years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience using a PC and MS Office, email, etc.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-specific patient care under physician direction.
• Operate under supervision, with nursing staff guidance.
• Assist across clinic locations within the Tappahannock region as needed.
• Handle medications and related supplies per policy.
• Demonstrate strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
