Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis seeks a Substitute Teacher to maintain a safe, respectful classroom while following established lesson plans and school policies.

You will communicate with students and staff, manage behavior, take attendance, and provide instructional support across varying grade levels and subjects. Ideal candidates will have experience with children or in education, strong communication and organizational skills, and a professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or in an educational setting preferred.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to follow written lesson plans and directions.
• Dependable, flexible, and professional demeanor.
• Background checks and Safe Environment training required.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
• Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other school areas as assigned.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and respectful classroom environment.
• Encourage appropriate student behavior consistent with school expectations and Catholic values.
• Take attendance and complete any required classroom records or reports.
• Communicate effectively with school administration and staff regarding classroom needs or concerns.
• Adapt to varying grade levels, subject areas, and classroom routines as needed.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and school matters.
