The Learning Lamp is hiring a Substitute Teacher to work as a Building Substitute in the Ferndale Area School District. Hours are based on school district schedules, with a daily pay range of $105–$125 based on experience.

Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans, delivering instruction, supervising students, and maintaining a positive learning environment while adhering to district policies. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and completion of required clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Must pass mandated clearances and training including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test.
• Ability to establish rapport with students and adapt to different classrooms.
• Strong classroom management and effective communication skills.
• Familiarity with school policies; flexibility for different teaching assignments.
• Completed background check and clearance.
• Physical requirements for long hours in a day.

Responsibilities

• Classroom management: implement lesson plans and materials from absent teacher.
• Deliver lessons per established curriculum and adapt to learning styles.
• Foster student engagement and a respectful learning environment.
• Supervise students during class, transitions, and school activities.
• Communicate with students, staff, and administrators; report concerns to regular teacher.
• Follow school/district policies and procedures; implement emergency procedures.
