FutureFuel Chemical Company is looking for a Welder to join our Flex Crew. This position will work at the FutureFuel site in Batesville, Arkansas.
About The Position
This position works under the supervision of a Supervisor, Construction & Project Engineering, and performs a wide variety of skilled welding. This position is located at the Batesville plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Will be required to pass one or more of the following welding performance tests: GTAW Test in 6G position, SMAW Test in 6G position, and a GMAW plate test.
- Produce quality welds on pipe and/or structural steel.
- Assist with installation of pipe and components.
- Assist with clean-up.
- Communicate effectively in order to perform essential functions of the job.
- Perform other job duties as assigned by supervision.
- Work inside and outside in varying degrees of weather and temperature conditions.
- Complete required safety training as directed.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
- Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals.
- Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
- Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained.
Key Qualifications
- Basic math, reading and writing specifications, proper hazardous material handling and disposal, proper use of appropriate PPE, and proper tie-off procedures.
- Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
- Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
- Strong initiative, self-directed, and committed to follow-through.
- Understanding and adherence to all FFCC Safety Processes including but not limited to Confined Space Entry, Safe Work, and Open Flame.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations pertaining to welding.
- Required to wear a respirator when needed.
- Ability to read and understand welding procedures, quantities, or sizes of materials required to perform the job.
