Job summary

Charleston Water System is seeking a Vehicle & Equipment Technician to perform preventive and predictive maintenance, diagnostics, and specialized repairs on gasoline and diesel Fleet vehicles and equipment under supervision. The role requires knowledge of major vehicle systems, CMMS documentation, and the ability to work on-call.

A high school diploma or GED and a SC Driver's License are required, with certifications as noted.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with 2+ years in preventive and predictive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of gasoline/diesel vehicles and equipment.
Proficient knowledge of maintenance principles, tools, and test equipment used for vehicle and equipment services.
Ability to operate PC and MS Office (Word/Excel).
Experience with a computerized work order system preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance for gasoline and diesel vehicles/equipment.
Diagnose and repair drivetrains and related systems.
Diagnose and repair electrical, fuel, braking, suspension, hydraulic, AC, and automotive computer systems.
Document daily work in CMMS and communicate with supervisors and vendors.
Maintain safe work area and be on-call 24 hours; may work hazardous weather.
