Job summary

Lansing Board of Water and Light (BWL) is seeking a Laborer in Lansing, MI to clean and disinfect fleet vehicles and equipment, assist mechanics, and support maintenance operations. The role includes forklift operation, parts pickup, and assisting with repairs, with a 10-hour shift pattern from 1:30pm to 11:30pm, four days a week.

A CDL is required within six months and a MI driver’s license is mandatory. Starting pay ranges from $21.73 to $32.60 per hour, with comprehensive benefits and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have valid MI driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.
• Preferred: 1–2 years vehicle/equipment cleaning experience.
• Knowledge of BWL fleet a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely cleans and disinfects BWL vehicles and equipment; disinfects all Motor Pool vehicles and equipment regularly.
• Assists equipment mechanics with repairs; sweeps floors and empties trash.
• Assists with parts pickup; operates forklift; uses hand and power tools.
• Follows safety procedures and PPE requirements; attends safety trainings.
