Essential Job Summary

The Fleet Technology Technician will provide the first line of support for all onboard truck technology and related hardware. Assist with all problems via phone, email, remote support, site visits, or along the driver’s route. They are responsible for the safe and productive operation of the fleet assets through the efficient performance of the department’s daily activities.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Install the Routeware tablet, and interface all components with the systems on the vehicles, including the in-cab video cameras, Samsara Cameras, and radios.
  2. Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support inquiries and adhere to all service management principles.
  3. Take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues.
  4. Disassemble vehicle interiors carefully, avoiding damage, and locate information if disassembly procedures are unknown.
  5. Identify component failures quickly, and replace as necessary.
  6. Properly run wires, cables, and harness assemblies throughout the vehicle, ensuring safety, weatherproofing, and proper routing.
  7. Knowledge of installation accessories such as wiring harnesses, high current power/ground wiring, and circuit protection devices.
  8. Apply appropriate fasteners during equipment mounting and interior panel removal, maintaining vehicle integrity.
  9. Install Bluetooth hands-free cellular devices or modules, ensuring driver safety and legal compliance.
  10. Approach all interactions with employees, customers, and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of all verbal and documented information.
  12. Perform other projects and tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Fluency in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Applicants must pass a drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are strongly preferred.
  • Travel to various locations in NJ, NY, PA, and Ohio as needed, with possible overnight stays.
  • Three years of professional experience preferred.
  • Training at an installation-related school or program is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of PCs, USB peripherals, Bluetooth, Serial (RS-232), Cellular Data, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
Requirements and Qualifications

High School diploma with 3+ years of related experience. No specific certificates required.

  • Self-starter with strong communication skills.
  • Process-oriented team builder.
Work Environment
  • Use of motor coordination and finger dexterity most of the workday.
  • Occasional physical effort handling objects under 30 pounds.
  • Exposure to physical risks and environmental elements such as dirt, noise, weather, etc.
  • Work setting includes office and repair shop environments.

Salary Range
