Job summary

El Paso County is seeking Technician II/III, Medium & Heavy to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a wide range of medium and heavy vehicles and equipment. You will work with diagnostic tools, follow SOPs, and contribute to safe operations in shop or field settings.

The role offers a clear progression path from Technician II to Senior Technician, with emphasis on hands-on problem solving, HVAC and hydraulic systems, and field support during emergencies.

Qualifications

Must provide own basic tools to perform essential job functions.
Knowledge of preventative maintenance and minor repairs on medium/heavy vehicles and construction equipment.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Performs preventive maintenance services per Fleet Management Division checklists.
Repairs vehicles, equipment, and attachments to manufacturer standards.
Uses diagnostic equipment to identify malfunctions and issues.
Maintains safety, organization, and cleanliness in the shop and field operations.
Responds to on-call after hours and county emergencies.
