Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks an Automotive Technician to support the Office of Transportation and Fleet Management Services. You will perform advanced diagnostics, routine maintenance, and inspections on a range of school vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities include repairing engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and supporting body work, with safety and regulatory compliance emphasized. A valid Virginia CDL and forklift license are required within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Virginia Driver's License.
• Valid Virginia Class B CDL within six months of hire.
• Forklift Operators License within six months of hire.
• Possession of needed personal tools per industry standards (within six months).
• Four years of hands-on experience servicing and repairing vehicles and equipment.

Responsabilités

• Perform diagnostic and repair on light to heavy duty fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Perform maintenance and inspections, including VDOE inspections.
• Operate fleet vehicles and transport to locations for warranty and repairs.
• Assist in ancillary shops to support organizational goals.
• Keep work area and facilities clean and safe.
• Dispense vehicle fuels and essential fluids.
• Enter job data into fleet management system promptly.
• Tow/service truck operations for field responses.
• Assist with lower level technicians when needed.
• Perform related duties as required.
• Repair minor body/chassis damage as part of the team.
