Job summary

NCTD is seeking an Auto Technician II to diagnose and perform technical repairs on revenue vehicles under supervision. You will engage in a wide range of maintenance tasks, including engine, electrical, and brake systems, and provide guidance to lower-level staff.

The role supports preventive maintenance, acceptance testing for new vehicles, and on-call responses to road failures. Shift variety includes nights, weekends, and holidays, with safety and quality as top priorities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of apprentice level verifiable training and experience in automotive or bus mechanics.
• Associate degree relevant to heavy equipment preferred.
• Two years of experience in transit agency maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic diagnosis of malfunctions and determines probable cause for prioritization.
• Repairs or replaces dysfunctional components of major systems (engine, electrical, suspension, fueling, pneumatic and hydraulic).
• Tunes engines and performs preventive maintenance inspections.
• Tests and prepares newly acquired vehicles for service.
• Repairs interior/exterior damages and responds to road failure situations.
