Primary Objective
The City of Bloomington is seeking an individual to perform skilled mechanical work in the complete repair, maintenance, and overhaul of automotive equipment, trucks, and other light and heavy equipment.
Note: City of Bloomington supplies all the tools and equipment needed for the job.

Examples of Duties
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on automobiles, trucks, tractors, sweepers, and other equipment
- Conduct work in a safe and respectful manner, using proper PPE, adhering to safety standards
- Perform emergency repairs to quickly restore equipment operation
- Document repairs, parts, labor, vehicle info, and communicate with supervisors about work procedures
- Perform mandated inspections; test vehicles and equipment for safe operation
- Assist in maintaining repair parts, oils, fuel inventories, and restocking
- Stay updated on industry standards and repair procedures to assist City staff
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude and demonstrate initiative in service delivery
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Operate various types of light and heavy equipment

- Use electric, pneumatic, hand tools, and testing equipment skillfully
- Perform welding, soldering, and torching with proper materials

- Work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Minimum/Desirable Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a technician program at a vocational school, college, or training facility plus 2 years of experience, or 10 years of relevant experience
- Valid Class “A” Commercial Vehicle Driver's License (must obtain within 1 year)
- DOT Commercial Vehicle inspector certification (must obtain within 6 months)
- Tanker endorsement (must obtain within 6 months)
Desirable Qualifications
- Current ASE Certifications in Auto and Truck specialties
- Master ASE Certification in Auto and/or Truck Repair
- Experience in welding and fabrication
- Experience servicing heavy equipment like loaders, sweepers, or agricultural equipment
- Experience with Fleet Maintenance
- Ability to speak a second community language (Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cambodian, etc.)
Additional Information
- This position does not supervise others.
- Must maintain Class A license.
- Anticipated hourly wage: $34.57 – $39.58; full range: $34.57-$46.28.
- Full-time, non-union, benefits eligible.
