The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky seeks a Fleet Supervisor to coordinate all fleet maintenance activities and supervise staff, ensuring clean, safe, roadworthy vehicles. You will work with the Director of Maintenance to manage daily workflow and uphold high maintenance standards.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a CDL Class B with endorsements, a clean driving record, and strong problem-solving, communication, and computer skills. Mechanical aptitude is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Initiative and independent judgement
  • CDL with Class B and P endorsements, or obtained within six (6) months probationary period
  • Strong problem-solving logic.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as: safety rules, operational, instructional and procedural documents.
  • Ability to keep clear and accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to manage confidential information and documents.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and be a team player
  • Computer experience with Word, Excel, Outlook and internet.
  • Ability to learn and manage timekeeping system and Fleet software.
  • Mechanical ability a plus

Responsibilities

  • Schedules work and provides daily oversight of maintenance operations.
  • Enforces safety and security regulations and company policies.
  • Inspects materials, stock, vehicles and facilities for safety and compliance.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance schedules for vehicles and equipment.
  • Monitors staff performance and provides coaching as needed.
  • Manages attendance records and payroll information.
  • Prepares statistical summaries and reports.
  • Coordinates with operations, finance, HR for scheduling and documentation.
  • Maintains DOT Medical Recertification process and scheduling.
  • Maintains department files and Fleetnet data.
  • Assists in parts inventory and replacement part selection.
  • Supports customer service and teamwork across departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Title: Fleet Supervisor Dept./Division: Maintenance

Reports to: Director of Maintenance FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Safety Sensitive Position: Yes

JOB SUMMARY:

The Fleet Supervisor is responsible to coordinate, monitor, and oversee all maintenance related activities of the department and supervise all designated employees. Works with the Director of Maintenance and Maintenance Manager to effectively manage the daily workflow of the department. Responsible for assuring that the cleaning and servicing of all TANK fleet vehicles is performed at a standard that will promote TANK as a clean and reliable choice of transportation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures proper servicing of vehicles including proper fueling, fluid levels, reporting of mechanical defects – including tire problems, reporting of body damage and any other related maintenance issues which could affect the roadworthiness and image of the fleet.
  • Ensures overall cleanliness and presentation of the fleet to the public. This includes the bus interior, exterior, wheels, tires, windows, driver’s area, seating, floors or any other item that affects TANK’s image.
  • Fosters good Labor and Management relations and consistent application of the collective bargaining agreement and Employee Handbook.

  • Schedules work, assign responsibilities, and provides daily oversight of the maintenance operations.
  • Enforces safety and security regulations and compliance to TANK's policies and procedures.
  • Inspects or tests materials, stock, vehicles, equipment, and facilities to ensure that they are safe, free of defects and meet specifications.
  • Adheres to proper preventative maintenance schedules and practices of all vehicles and other equipment.
  • Monitors employees' work levels and work performance.
  • Gives instructions for troubleshooting and repairs and when necessary, assists employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
  • Manages the attendance records process for the Maintenance department and processes payroll information for accounting.
  • Prepares statistical summary reports.
  • Prepares paperwork for the discipline associated with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Works with other departments (Operations, Finance, Human Resources) to ensure that bus availability, road call issues, payroll issues and FMLA tracking information is communicated and documented accurately and timely.
  • Manages the DOT Medical Recertification process and scheduling.
  • Sets up and maintains necessary files for the department to include: employee files, confidential files and maintenance repair files.
  • Compiles operational and personnel records, such as time and production records, legally required records and logs, inventory data, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results as needed.
  • Inputs and updates Fleetnet (work management program) data.
  • Assists in finding replacement parts in inventory and inspects for acceptability.
  • Facilitates the development of strategies to meet or exceed organizational and department performance goals and objectives, monitors results, and recognizes employee, departments and organizations accomplishments.
  • Models, facilitates, and encourages exemplary internal and external customer service, open communication, collaboration, participation and professional development among staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Standing and walking for long periods of time on concrete surfaces
  • Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
  • Climbing stairs and inclines repeatedly.
  • Bending, stooping, pulling, or pushing on a regular basis.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Correctible ability to see and hear in a normal range.
