Job summary

Athens Services is seeking a Vice President of Fleet Strategy, Maintenance & Capital Planning to lead the end-to-end performance and direction of the fleet and related assets. You will guide capital investments, replacement cycles, and lifecycle management while ensuring safety, reliability, and financial performance across diverse vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Logistics, Operations, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience spanning fleet maintenance, fleet operations, fleet strategy, capital planning, or asset management.
• Proven success leading large-scale maintenance and reliability programs together with fleet strategy, acquisition, replacement, or capital investment initiatives.
• Strong financial acumen including 5+ years of managing operating budgets, P&L, and/or large capital programs.
• Experience with OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers, and service partners on vehicle specifications, procurement, warranties, and performance.
• Experience using fleet management systems, data analytics, and performance metrics to improve availability, cost, utilization, and lifecycle outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term fleet strategy that supports growth, reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
• Lead annual and long-range capital planning for fleet acquisition and lifecycle optimization.
• Establish replacement criteria using age, condition, utilization, maintenance history, downtime, and total cost of ownership.
• Monitor fleet utilization and replacement schedules to optimize fleet size and capital deployment.
• Provide executive leadership with reports, forecasts, and risk assessments on fleet performance and capital expenditures.
• Lead strategic sourcing and negotiations with OEMs and suppliers; manage relationships and warranties.
• Evaluate emerging fleet technologies and lead electrification roadmaps, including cost modeling.
• Drive cross-functional alignment with Operations, Finance, Procurement, Safety, IT.
