Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking an entry-level maintenance assistant to support shop duties for tractor, trailer, and related equipment. You will participate in preventive maintenance, repairs, and documentation to ensure a safe, efficient fleet.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 110 pounds with assistance. A basic proficiency in using computers and a willingness to learn lifting equipment are necessary.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Basic computer skills.
• Willing to be educated on lifting devices (jacks, floor cranes, etc.).
• Able to frequently lift components weighing ~110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles as directed.
• Must be able to enter/exit driver’s compartment.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preventative maintenance and repairs with other technicians.
• Support shop operations: job setup, cleaning, and equipment maintenance.
• Prepare electronic and manual records/reports.
• Assist with safety inspections and document the work.
• Move parts to/from job site and install as directed.
• Assist with fleet maintenance activities.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Use power and hand tools as directed by leadership.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
