Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a maintenance shop assistant to support timely, quality service for our vehicle fleet, including tractors and trailers. Under supervision, you will perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and documentation to maintain a safe and efficient fleet.

Responsibilities include assisting with setup, cleaning, and tool use, while maintaining records and supporting safety inspections. This role requires basic computer skills and the ability to lift heavy components, with a strong

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Basic computer skills.
• Willing to be educated on proper use of lifting devices.
• Able to lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles as directed.
• Able to enter/exit driver’s compartment using standard access points.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with shop duties in maintenance for fleet including tractors, trailers and equipment.
• Support shop operations with setup, cleaning and equipment maintenance.
• Prepare electronic and manual records and reports.
• Assist with safety inspections of equipment and document the work.
• Move parts to and from job site and install/remove parts as directed.
• Assist with fleet maintenance activities.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Use power and hand tools as directed.
