Qualifications

Work Schedule: Estimated 40-50 hrs/wk, up to 12 hrs/day (hours may vary based on business volume). Store manager will assign hours; availability during company hours is required.

Position Overview

Position: Fleet Service Repair Technician

Department: Commercial

Reports To: General Manager

Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Supervises: None

Summary: Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial vehicles and replacing automotive parts, either in-shop or at customer locations. Collaborates with management and service advisors to provide excellent service and customer education.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various vehicles including trucks, buses, RVs, SUVs, off-road, emergency vehicles, and trailers.
• Communicate with management and service writers regarding repairs and timelines.
• Troubleshoot and determine cost-effective solutions for equipment issues.
• Travel to repair locations as needed, including after-hours on a rotating basis.
• Operate equipment after repairs to verify issues are resolved.
• Maintain current knowledge of heavy equipment repair techniques.
• Follow safety protocols, wear PPE, and maintain a professional appearance.
• Assist with inventory and complete paperwork accurately and timely.
• Maintain tools and work area in good condition.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years’ experience in commercial automotive repair preferred.
• Knowledge of trailer maintenance helpful.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• ASE Service Manager certification preferred; TIA Commercial 200 level certification required.
• Knowledge of diagnostic and repair equipment.
• Ongoing training as per company standards.

Physical & Environmental Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work environment may be hot or cold, outside or in a shop.
• Must wear PPE as required.
