Zolman’s Best One Tire & Service – Seeking a full-time Commercial Tire Technician

Locally owned and operated, Zolman Tire, Inc. has serviced the automotive, light truck and commercial repair, tire, and wheel needs of customers throughout the Mishawaka, IN area since 1978. Over the years we have expanded into eight retail locations in Mishawaka, IN, Granger, IN, South Bend, IN, Niles, MI, Portage, MI, and Kalamazoo, MI and four commercial fleet locations in Mishawaka, IN, South Bend, IN, Galesburg, MI, and Benton Harbor, MI.

We are seeking qualified commercial tire technicians for our Mishawaka and South Bend locations who value safety and teamwork. Techs will be responsible for removing, installing, rotating, balancing, and performing flat repairs on commercial and large equipment tires (in shop or at customer location). Hours requirements are 8a-5p M-F, with willingness to work overtime as needed. Essential Functions:

1. Remove, install, rotate, balance, and perform flat repairs on commercial and large equipment tires (in shop or at customer location), performed per TIA Commercial guidelines
2. Safely separate and reassemble tires onto wheels, using specialized equipment
3. Inspect casings for defects
4. Locate and seal tire punctures (patch and plug)
5. Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding or sandblasting
6. Inspect vehicles using inspection forms and report potential repairs to supervisor
7. Perform basic maintenance and repair
8. Drive service truck to customer locations and for road service
9. Raise and lower vehicles safely, with hydraulic or floor jacks
10. Safely operate all shop machinery, including but not limited to: safety cage, spreader, balancer, floor jacks or lifts, air powered tools, torque wrench and/or torque sticks
11. Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment
12. Read work orders thoroughly and perform all listed tasks
13. Perform general housekeeping duties
14. Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

• Lifting: Frequent lifting over 50 pounds from ground to chest high.

• Environment: Work in environment that is not climate controlled. Temperatures range from extremely hot to extremely cold, depending on the season.

Education:

High school graduate or general education degree (GED)

Experience:

1-2 years’ experience in passenger or commercial tire repair.

Certifications/Licenses:

Valid driver’s license; driving record must meet company’s insurance requirements. Ability to obtain/maintain a DOT physical (for service trucks). TIA Commercial 200 Level (company can provide). Ongoing training is required per company’s standards.

Computer:

Able to operate all diagnostics and alignment equipment.
