Job summary

Zolman Tire, Inc. is seeking a full-time Commercial Tire Technician for our Galesburg, MI location. You will remove, install, rotate, balance and repair commercial tires, both in shop and at customer sites, following TIA guidelines.

Responsibilities include inspecting casings, patching punctures, and preparing rims, while driving a service truck to customer locations. Requires safety focus, reliability and teamwork; 8a-5p M-F with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in passenger or commercial tire repair.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with driving record that meets company requirements.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DOT physical.
• TIA Commercial 200 Level certification (company provides).

Responsibilities

• Remove, install, rotate, balance and perform flat repairs on commercial/large equipment tires (in shop or at customer locations).
• Safely separate and reassemble tires onto wheels with specialized equipment.
• Inspect casings for defects.
• Locate and seal tire punctures (patch/plug).
• Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly (scraping/grinding/sandblasting).
• Inspect vehicles using forms and report potential repairs to supervisor.
• Perform basic maintenance and repair.
• Drive service truck to customer locations and provide road service.
• Raise/lower vehicles with jacks.
• Operate shop machinery and diagnostic equipment.
• Read work orders and perform listed tasks.
• General housekeeping and other duties as assigned.

Zolman’s Best One Fleet Service Kalamazoo – Seeking a full-time Commercial Tire Technician

Locally owned and operated, Zolman Tire, Inc. has serviced the automotive repair industry and tire service needs of customers throughout the Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan area since 1978. Over the years we have expanded into nine retail locations and five commercial fleet service locations. All of our locations are proud partners of Best One Tire and are Bridgestone Firestone Tire Dealers.

We are seeking a qualified commercial tire technician for our location in Galesburg Michigan who values safety and teamwork. Techs will be responsible for removing, installing, rotating, balancing, and performing flat repairs on commercial and large equipment tires (in shop or at customer location). Hour's requirements are 8a-5p M-F, with willingness to work overtime as needed. If you are enthusiastic about the commercial tire and repair industry, reliable, and have a positive attitude.

Essential Functions

• Remove, install, rotate, balance, and perform flat repairs on commercial and large equipment tires (in shop or at customer location), performed per TIA Commercial guidelines
• Safely separate and reassemble tires onto wheels, using specialized equipment
• Inspect casings for defects
• Locate and seal tire punctures (patch and plug)
• Prepare rims and wheel drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding or sandblasting
• Inspect vehicles using inspection forms and report potential repairs to supervisor
• Perform basic maintenance and repair
• Drive a service truck to customer locations and road service
• Raise and lower vehicles safely, with hydraulic or air operated floor jacks
• Safely operate all shop machinery, including but not limited to safety tire cages, spreader, balancer, floor jacks or lifts, air powered tools, torque wrench and/or torque sticks
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment Safely operate all service truck machinery, including but not limited to: all shop machinery, boom and hook
• Read work orders thoroughly and perform all listed tasks
• Perform general housekeeping duties
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands / Work Environment

• Lifting: Frequent lifting over 50 pounds from ground to chest high.

Skills & Abilities

Education

Certifications/Licenses

• Valid driver’s license; driving record must meet company’s insurance requirements
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DOT physical (for service trucks)
• TIA Commercial 200 Level (company will provide)
• Ongoing training is required per company’s standards

Computer

Able to operate TPMS programmers, read and write e-mails, and use software apps when applicable.
