Job summary

Holtec is seeking a Corporate Functional Area Manager - Fleet Radiation Protection to lead the development and review of fleet radiation protection standards and procedures. You will drive process improvements and coordinate across multiple nuclear sites to ensure consistent program implementation.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, 8+ years in the nuclear industry with radiation protection experience, and at least 3 years in nuclear facility radiological

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 8 years in the nuclear industry with radiation protection and chemistry experience.
  • At least 3 years of radiation protection in a nuclear facility addressing radiological challenges comparable to nuclear plants.
  • Technical knowledge supporting nuclear power plant operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with MS Office.
  • Travel up to 25% to support fleet initiatives and site assessments.

Job description

The Corporate Functional Area Manager - Fleet Radiation Protection is responsible for developing standards and procedures along with reviewing and assessing fleet radiation protection activities and driving process improvements. This position directly reports to the Chief Nuclear Officer with travel to all nuclear sites on a periodic frequency required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Govern fleet processes, practices, and procedures to fleet standardized best practices in the area radiation protection.
  • Eliminate regional and to the extent practicable, site-specific procedures.
  • Drive fleet practices standardization and optimization by achieving consensus among site managers of the respective discipline, direct activities as appropriate.
  • Review fleet work assignments to ensure the site staffs are responding appropriately to fleet and organizational needs.
  • Monitor and review fleet standardization activities and inform CNO of progress of fleet activities.
  • Coordinate with the Oversight and Regulatory Organizations to assess site adherence to industry standards.
  • Coordinate radiation protection activities, initiatives, and priorities across multiple nuclear generating sites to ensure consistent program implementation.
  • Assist in the development, revision, and maintenance of fleet radiation protection policies, procedures, and governance documents.
  • Review departmental costs to assure the best practices are being followed fleet wide.
  • Review procedures and documentation which governs and controls fleet operations activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another scientific discipline associated with radiation protection practices, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in nuclear industry, radiation protection and chemistry, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of radiation protection experience must be in a nuclear facility addressing radiological challenges comparable to those encountered at nuclear power plants.
  • Technical knowledge and experience supporting nuclear power plant operations.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978 and Regulatory Guide 1.8 Revision 2 (1987) requirements.
  • Candidates lacking formal education requirement may still be considered based on demonstrated qualifications and approval by the Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO).
  • Nuclear power plant experience is strongly preferred.
  • Must have participated in radiation protection activities during:
    • A routine refueling outage.
    • At least twelve months of plant operation at power.
  • Must be familiar with nuclear power plant design features and operating characteristics that affect radiation exposure risks.
  • Must possess the technical competence to develop, implement, and maintain radiation protection programs.
  • Must understand radiological controls and practices necessary to protect personnel from radiation exposure.
  • Travel up to 25% to support fleet initiatives, station assessments, benchmarking activities, regulatory engagements, outage support, leadership meetings, and coordination efforts across multiple nuclear generating sites.
