Job summary

Etched seeks a Fleet Systems Lead for its Supercomputing organization in San Jose. You will guide the Fleet Software team and shape deployment architectures for inference clusters at gigawatt-scale, coordinating with other teams to ensure reliability and performance.

The role involves building telemetry, monitoring, and recovery tooling, plus leading production deployments and continuous improvement across the fleet.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including leading projects or managing engineers.
• Experience building infrastructure software and owning it in production, including deployments, incidents and the changes that followed.
• A strong background in fleet management, provisioning, configuration or observability for compute infrastructure or connected devices.
• Solid distributed systems and Linux fundamentals.
• Strong coding and debugging skills; ability to work through hard problems with engineers and contribute to implementations.
• Experience setting technical direction, mentoring engineers and delivering work across team boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Fleet Software team; set priorities and mentorship.
• Set architecture and roadmap for fleet provisioning, configuration, updates and recovery across labs and customer deployments.
• Oversee safe software and firmware rollouts including validation and staged deployment.
• Design telemetry and log pipelines, including storage, retention and query performance.
• Develop monitoring, alerting and analysis tools for fleet behavior and failures.
• Define interfaces with Node Systems to manage hardware across the fleet.
• Collaborate with deployment teams to support customer environments and telemetry analysis.
• Turn deployment lessons into engineering priorities and decide on tools to reuse vs build.
